How to control your PC's cooling using SpeedFan Application

SpeedFan is a very powerful and useful application to control your PC's fan speeds , its interface it little bit difficult and little confuse to use. Here we  will guide you to the basics of SpeedFan. The first of all you check that if your motherboard is capable to support the SpeedFan's fan control feature. A list of supported motherboards is available here so just look to find out whether your motherboard supports or not. In case if your motherboard cannot support this feature, you can use the SpeedFan application for troubleshooting and monitoring.

One you find that your motherboard can support SpeedFan Application, now go to system's BIOS and disable automatic fan controls feature. This will help to avoid conflicts between SpeedFan application and system fan settings.

Once you have done that, download ,install and launch SpeedFan application and allow the application a few seconds to scan the on board sensors on your computer. After it is done you can see the temperature readings from the various components like CPU, GPU, and hard drives in the computer.

Next, click the "Configure" button on the right. Navigate to "Options" tab and just make sure to "Set fans to 100% on program exit" is checked and set "Delta value for fan speeds" to 99 (max). So this make sure that your fans will not stay at previous settings, even if your temperature boost up. Now go to "Advanced" tab to select motherboards superIO chip from drop down menu. Look for the PWM mode which has to be changed to manual PWM control. You can change fan speed by entering value into the menu or with the up and down arrows. If you set the percentage lower than 30%, there is a chance that the fan RPM will read incorrectly, so keep please this in mind.

Next up, you will want to set automatic fan controls by going to the "Speeds" tab. Here you will find the minimum and maximum values of each of your component's fans. Make sure to check the box for "Automatically variate." Next to the "Temperatures" tab here you can expand specific components and set the temps where you want them to run at and when to give warnings.

You will probably want to experiment with some of fan speeds if they are too loud or if your components are not getting cooled quickly enough. You can also select "Show in tray" so you can get a heads up display of the components you want to monitor. Lastly, do not forget to add a shortcut to SpeedFan to the Start Up folder so it launches at start up.

Now you are in complete control of your machine's cooling!!!

Please note : SpeedFan Application will help you to adjust cooling of the computer if it is set and use correctly. And in case if you feel any kind of problems in using and setting up this application we suggest you to remove the application from the computer, restart the computer ,go to system's BIOS and enable automatic fan controls feature in the BIOS.
