HTC also announced a new glasses-free (autostereoscopic) 3D Android
phone called HTC EVO 3D. The HTC EVO 3D is the true successor of the
wildly popular HTC EVO 4G, a device that came out on June 4, 2010 and
still is one of Sprint’s most popular phones. The handset was originally
announced back in March at CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications Industry
Association) with a scheduled release date planned for sometime this
summer. The HTC EVO 3D was the winner of our Best Smartphone Award at
CTIA 2011 because of its deep feature set and its rich software
experience.
HTC EVO 3D Features
The HTC EVO 3D is a 4G WiMax enabled device and it is the successor
to one of Sprint’s longtime flagship devices, the HTC EVO 4G. It has a
massive 4.3 inch qHD display with a high resolution of 540X960 pixel and
the display will be able to handle glasses-free 3D content. It has two
5MP cameras on the back to capture 3D video and images. Video
recording is up to 720p HD and still 3D image capture is up to 2MP in
resolution. It features a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core CPU just
like HTC sensation expect this is part of the MSM8660 chipset with an
Adreno 220 GPU onboard as well. It comes with 1 GB of RAM and is
equipped with 1730 mAh LiIon battery. It will also come with Android
2.3 Gingerbread with the new HTC Sense 3.0 out of the box which will
bring new home screens, new applications and Friend Stream for easy
Facebook and Twitter integration. Will have simultaneous voice and data
capabilities; while in 3G/4G or Wi-Fi coverage areas, the EVO 3D will
allow web surfing while on the phone. Like many of the recent Android
devices, the EVO 3D will be able to act like a mobile hotspot and
provide data connectivity for up to 8 Wi-Fi enabled devices.
Pricing for the HTC EVO 3D is currently an unknown.
